[SEMINAR] Adolescent Themes & Their Exploration by Amanda Leong
How has the content of common adolescent themes and their exploration evolved from 2011 through to 2015?
Using, Buds Theatre's writing programme as her basis of research. Amanda presents a paper exploring the variations in writing over a five year period, focusing on common themes and trends for her analysis.
Commonalities such as romantic relationships and friendships are explored in detail, acknowledging the dark existential tones that emerge in later years.
Join her as she shares her findings and considers what the future of youth writing holds.
About Amanda Leong
AMANDA LEONG joined Buds Youth Theatre in 2014, which led her to fall in love with the theatrical form and rediscover her love of writing.
She was also introduced to many inspiring peers and mentors, which has been life changing. She was involved in Buds Youth Theatre's original performances: From Scratch (2014) and From Scratch (2015).
Her play ‘How to be happy’ was restaged by Buds Theatre in 2016 as part of the In-House Theatre series.
Outside of Buds, she joined a Playback theatre programme by the Shoes theatre collective, in which she performed at the National University Hospital.
She hopes to continue creating and exploring this form in Yale-NUS, where she is currently an undergraduate student.
